Dr.-Ing. Jens Nimis received his Diploma degree in 1999 from the Faculty of Informatik at the Universität Karlsruhe (TH) nowadays known as KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology). Until 2006 he worked as research assistant in the database group of Prof. em. Dr.-Ing. Dr. h.c. Peter C. Lockemann at the Institute for Programm Structures and Data Organization (IPD) of the Universität Karlsruhe. His research focus was on the application of multiagent system to the production logistics domain and especially on the enhancement of the technical reliability required there (doctoral thesis topic: A Reference Architecture for Reliable Multiagent Systems).

From October 2006 on, Jens first worked as research associate at the research devision Information Process Engineering (IPE) of FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik Karlsruhe (Engl.: Research Center for Information Technology) in the area of Grid Computing and on technical aspects of Service-Oriented Computing.

From April 2008 to September 2010 Jens has lead the newly founded department of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Stefan Tai at FZI. In this context, his fields of interest broadened towards economical and social aspects of Service-Oriented Computing and especially towards the application of Cloud Computing in practice.

In October 2010 Jens has been appointed to a professorship on Information Systems at the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences. A few details on this position can be found on the home page.
